Teodoro Tiongson

The Tiongson Family would like to announce the demise of patriarch TEODORO C. TIONGSON on Wednesday, September 7, 2016. Mr. Tiongson, a resident of Seville Terraces in Hyattsville, Maryland was born in Hagonoy, Bulacan in the Philippines on March 17, 1928. The son of spouses Daniel Tiongson and Victoria Cruz, Teddy married his high school sweetheart, Socorro Viri on January 11, 1951, a union that has lasted for 65 years. He began his career in the foreign service of his country of birth as Commercial Analyst at the Philippine Consulate in Guam. Promoted in 1977 as a Commercial Attache, he was sent to serve at the Philippine Embassy in Washington, D.C. In 1982, he was assigned as Director of the Philippine Pavilion at the World's Fair held in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was transferred to the Philippine Consulate in Hong Kong where he retired in 1994. He then returned to his family in Maryland and soon after, was hired as a Commercial Consultant at his old office at the Philippine Embassy in D.C. Blessed with ten children, Fe Manalo, Ma. Cynthia Navoa, Noel Tiongson, Froilan Tiongson, Judge Mona Lisa Tabora, Doris Deperio, Leonor Tiongson, Imelda Tiongson, Benjamin Tiongson and Caroline Tiongson, he was also grandfather to 27 and great-grandfather to 11. A funeral mass will be held at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church at 7501 Adelphi Road, Hyattsville, MD on Wednesday, September 14 at 10 a.m. He will lie in state at the Gasch's Funeral Home, P.A. 4739 Baltimore Avenue, MD on Tuesday, September 13, from 3 to 5pm and from 7 to 9 pm.
