Theodore Motorney

May 4, 1918 — November 7, 2008

On November 7, 2008, Theodore Motorney passed away peacefully to join his beloved soul mate and wife of 60 years, the late Helen Diakun Motorney. Ted always said he'd never retire, but retire he did, after 50 years of employment with the General Accounting Office in Washington, D.C. As a young man in New York City he became involved with Ukrainian activities in films and politics, and continued his interest in and support of Ukrainian causes throughout his life. He had an infectious laugh, enjoyed mother nature, and loved fishing, sketching, painting, sports, and a fast polka. His favorite phrases were "Hangin' in there" and "Holy moly!" He will be remembered lovingly by his sisters Anne Petralia of New York City and Mary Zaharko of Delray Beach, FL, his nieces Marianne Petralia Jensen and Manya Zaharko Howson, and his nephews Ted Petralia, Stephen Paul Zaharko, and Peter Zaharko, Jr. Inurnment at a later date at the Ukrainian Cemetery, Hopelawn, NJ. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Ted can give to the Ukrainian Catholic National Shrine of the Holy Family, 4250 Harewood Road, N.E., Washington, DC 20017, www.ucns-holyfamily.org
