Mrs. Verna Keplinger Rupert, age 91, of Silver Spring, Maryland, passed away on Sunday, July 23rd, 2017, at Prince George’s Hospital. She was born Saturday, October 31st, 1925 in Maysville, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Oscar and Mamie Keplinger. Verna worked at the University of Maryland Bookstore and later as a secretary for many years. She was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Ruth Chapter #7 O.E.S., Lifetime Member of Greenbelt American Legion Post Auxiliary #1436, BPOE Elks Lodge #1778 and Prince George’s Cedarettes #139.
She is survived by her husband, Edmund W. Rupert, a daughter, Brenda (John) Cleaves, a son, Brad (Norma) Rupert, a sister, Mary Feaster and a brother, Vernon (Karen) Keplinger. Four grandchildren: Samuel (Maria) and Stacy Cleaves and Steven and Stefanie Rupert, three great grandchildren: Karla, Adriel and Kianna Cleaves, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Lurene Bridgen, Maxine Feaster, Rhea Smith and Mildred Feaster.
Friends may call at Gasch’s Funeral Home, P.A., 4739 Baltimore Avenue, Hyattsville, MD on Monday, July 31st from 5 until the time of the American Legion Service at 7 p.m. A service by the Ruth Chapter #7 O.E.S. will follow. Burial private.
